Publish a Web Site From Your Free Cloud Storage Account

Most PC users are aware of the free cloud storage service DropBox. Now a
company called Pancake is offering a free service that allows you to use
DropBox to host a web site. Your web pages are stored in a folder in your
DropBox, and you can edit them in there or via the Pancake online system.
Anyone can view your pages via their web browser (but of course, your other
DropBox folders remain private).

Google (finally) Launches Free Cloud Drive Storage

Yesterday Microsoft released an app that gives easy access to 7GB of free
storage on their SkyDrive service. Today Google launched its own free 5GB
storage service called Google Drive. Google Drive has apps for desktops
(Windows and Macs), and an Android app. iPad and iPhone apps are coming soon
according to the Google Drive home page, though there will likely be a delay
as the app makes its way through Apple's app vetting process. You'll need a
Google account to use Google Drive. So folks we are now blessed with choice
with so many key players falling over backwards to give you free space in the
cloud. But as the saying goes "When you get a product for free then it is YOU
who are the product" :)

Secure Virtual Desktop 2.4.5.0

Secure Virtual Desktop lets you securely access sensitive information on any
computer. Browse anonymously and privately and download, edit, and send
documents, knowing that all traces of your activity will be removed from the
computer when you exit.

Microsoft SkyDrive Finally Gets Its Desktop App with 7 to 25GB of Storage for Free

"Until now, the main difference between the way that you use Dropbox and
Microsoft's SkyDrive is that the latter is only available via a web site.
There's no officially supported way to mount your SkyDrive as a virtual drive
in Windows 7, to which you can copy and save files. As of today, that's
changed. Microsoft has finally released a Windows app that integrates your
SkyDrive into the operating system. So now you have a drive which you can use
just like any other, but which is held in the cloud and automatically synced
to your other computers too. Safe, secure, and reliable. Well, as much as any
cloud-based service can be. And be aware that Microsoft has cut the storage
allowance for new accounts, so you only get 7 gig for free instead of 25 but
it's still more than the 2 GB which you get for free with Dropbox."

that information could be found in one easily accessible place? Well this

How to Improve the Look of Your Photos in Just a Few Seconds

Our Hot Finds Editor says "There are quite a few excellent web-based photo
editors around, which claim to be able to make even the dullest picture look
much improved. So when I heard about this new site, I had to give it a try.
The key to this site's success is that it's easy and simple to use, and you
can see your results instantly. Just click on each of the icons in turn, and
adjust the sliders to see the results in real time. I was impressed with the
ease of use. I reckon that this site might just become my photo touch-up tool
of choice."

Use This Nifty Little Free Program to Close All Your PC Applications At Once

Sick of closing lots of open applications and windows? Here's the answer.
This free utility is a very small (36 KB) zipped download and is a
stand-alone application that requires no installation and makes no changes to
your computer. Both 32- and 64-bit executables are included in the zipped
package and the program runs in Windows XP, Vista, and 7. The close action is
very fast; it simply flashes a "close" signal to all open applications on
the desktop and then ceases. If something like a Word document needs saving,
the usual dialog for saving the document will appear first so no work is
lost. You can create a desktop shortcut to the little executable file and
assign a hotkey if desired. Simple, effective, small and entirely free.

End Of The Road For Yahoo Desktop Widgets

Last week, Yahoo (or "Troubled Internet Company Yahoo," as the press seems to
be calling them at the moment) pulled the plug on its desktop widgets service
and the Konfabulator engine. As of now, you can no longer download any new
widgets. If you are currently using one or more widgets from Yahoo, you
should find that they continue to work, but be aware that no further updates
will be issued via the Yahoo site.

Free Chrome Extension Simplifies Web-Based Research

When you're researching a topic on the web, you're constantly coming across
interesting little snippets of text or images that you need to collect and
collate in one convenient place. Most people do this by flipping between a
word processor and a web browser, copying items of interest. The process
works, but can be slow. So here's a neat idea. Browser Clipboard is a free
extension for users of the Chrome web browser which allows you to drag
selected text to the clipboard, or right-click content from a web page and
choose Copy To Browser Clipboard. You can then drag stored items from the
browser clipboard onto any web page. For example, a web-based note app such
as Evernote, or your own blog.

Free Utility Flips And Rotates Video Files

Ever needed to mirror reverse a video or rotate it 90 or 180 degrees? Then
this free utility will do the job for you. It's virus free but like many
freebies these days offers to install a toolbar during program installation.
Just say "no" and all will be sweet. You can't blame some software authors
trying to make a buck out of their labors but frankly these optional toolbars
are becoming far too common for my liking. That's why these days you really
need to be vigilant when installing new products, free commercial or
otherwise. - Gizmo

Website of the Week

"The site motto is "Where Knowledge Junkies Get Their Fix". I think that's a
fun and accurate description. This is not a deadly serious site like say
Wikipedia. That is, the information is accurate but it's presented in such an
interesting and lighthearted way that you may not realize you're learning
things. The site has areas for trivia, facts, quizzes, and blogs but there is
enough interesting content on the main page that there's a good chance you
might not make it to the other sections. Everything I saw was family
friendly, with most of it being of interest to teens and adults. All in all a
fun and friendly site whether you a knowledge junkie or not. :) "
